The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) recently released updates to the Statewide Transportation Planning Framework EPG Article 121.2 – the decision-making policy and process that engages stakeholders from across the State to help prioritize transportation needs and projects. Missouri’s regional planning commissions (RPCs) are integral to the Planning Framework process as they all engage with regional Transportation Advisory Committees (TACs) to help determine what the local and regional transportation issues are in their communities. With approval from the respective RPC Boards of Directors, the TACs provide regional stakeholder input to insure MoDOT can properly reflect public interests and priorities into the State Transportation Improvement Program.
MACOG and the RPC network have been key partners with MoDOT under the Planning Framework since its inception in the 1990’s. The Planning Framework has been recognized nationally as a model of local and regional public engagement in a statewide transportation planning process.
